I am so grateful for Roger Easton. He is the man who spearheaded the creation of the satellite system that lets us know where on earth we are. We know it now as the GPS. Easton has spared me significant embarrassment from the times when as a man I would have been forced to stop and ask for directions or the humiliation of hearing my wife say; “ I told you it was the other way!”
Many times we wish that knowing God’s will was a simple as plugging in coordinates and looking for a readout that would tell us to turn left or turn right, marry this person or that person. Or what about you who live in the crazy Vancouver real estate market…what if God told you to “buy this house or sell it now.”
What I do know about hearing God’s voice and finding direction is linked in a repeating theme that we find through the scriptures. Words like; “ Stand still and see the deliverance of the Lord,” be still and know that I am God and “ if you lack wisdom …ask God …who gives generously.”
Before plunging into your next major decision may I suggest the following words; Stand still, be still, ask God for Wisdom and remember as you make your decisions the word; “ Immanuel” – ‘God with us’ and in particular He is with you!
